I met Ben a few years ago with Matt & Roy for a few ‘refreshments’ before we all went to the Derby v Forest match. I instantly liked him; such a lovely, warm, funny and genuinely decent chap. We had a great day that day (I believe Derby won) so post-match drinks were an absolute must! The last time I saw Ben was at Diane and Matt’s wedding and I was briefly introduced to Tracey. Ben will be missed by so many people for so many reasons. I’m one of those people. Sending love and condolences to the whole family. RIP Ben. xxx 16th Dec 2018

It's been 18 months since I last saw Ben on our most recent trip back to the UK. He brought Tracey and the kids to meet Amber and my kids. We had a lovely day. The thing about Ben is that he has never changed. He is the same Ben as he was at school. That infectious sense of humour! That larger than life personality 🙂 and yet in a quiet moment he wanted to know that I was happy and everything was good. A gentle giant in more ways than one. We will miss you Ben and give all of our strength to Tracey, Poppy, Harry and your family xx 16th Dec 2018

I first met big Ben a few years back at The Smithfield with Chiv and my wife Karyn for the obligatory pint (three) before the Derby v Forest match. I saw him at a couple of matches after that. More recently, I saw him at Chiv's stag do. I now have a golf ball phobia!! When I heard the very sad news of his passing I was devastated because we all need a Ben in our lives - such a great man with a great personality. A massive loss to all who loved him. My thoughts are with Tracey, the children and the Latham family. RIP mate x 16th Dec 2018

So much has been said about a truly unique and special human being. Since I met him in our lovely village Newbald he welcomed me warmly and always made me feel at home as I am Italian. When I was with him joy and fun was guaranteed. His joy of life was always contagious, a charismatic leader, difficult to find in this hectic, busy life , his williness to help the next person was truly inspirational. We all will be more sad and lonely this Christmas. A star has gone to soon but his light and his humanity will live forever in our hearts. Our condolences to all the family. Un bacio x 16th Dec 2018

Haven’t seen Ben for a while - but all memories are one of a kind hearted, gentle giant. Several pints were had during our time in Hull. He will be missed dreadfully and our love and thoughts go to Tracey, the children and the broader Latham family. His kids can at least grow up in the same knowledge that I did, there Dad was a very decent man and they can always be proud of that. Love and thoughts to all. Dan and family. 16th Dec 2018

Dear Tracey, Poppy and Harry. I was devastated to hear your sad news. I was at Uni with Ben and have many fond memories of the great laughs we had together. Watching the Bluetones in the first week of our first year; getting thrashed by him at squash each week; watching him laugh off some drunk guys attempt to headbutt (seriously!) him at Spiders night club; finishing our exams and cycling to the beach; ‘sneaking’ into the Hull uni bar to play snooker; oh and the lectures of course. He was such a gentle giant I deeply regret losing touch with him. Our sincerest condolences to you all. 16th Dec 2018

I’ve just been told the heartbreaking news. Ben was such a close friend at university. I feel numb that such a wonderful bloke has gone and I regret losing touch. Ben and Tracy were such a huge part of my years at university, along with Paul and Adam we made so many happy memories. From working together on countless assignments to the crazy nights out that always followed. Ben was a great friend, who’s presence ensured fun and laughter. I haven’t seen him recently but on hearing the news a few moments ago I miss him terribly. All my thoughts go out for your loss. 16th Dec 2018

Ben was my first boss after university at Boots.com, he was online marketing manager (prob around 2003) and his support and encouragement, through the initial work experience he provided allowed me to go on to have an enjoyable career. We had a couple of things in common (both lived in Stapleford at the time and studied in Lincoln). I learnt a lot from Ben and he taught me to always prepare well ahead of meetings and I've not forgotten that all these years on! He was always fun at the Christmas party and remember him dancing (on the tables!) at Bistro Live one year. Thinking of you all. 16th Dec 2018

I didn't know you well, but you were always a big part of any event that was happening in the village. You always joined in with a happy smile and made us laugh. Words cannot describe the injustice of you leaving so early and how much you will be missed ❤️ 16th Dec 2018

Ben was in the year above me at school, and lived 'up the lane' in Little Eaton. He was really good fun and very kind. Love and sympathy to all of Ben's family and friends. 16th Dec 2018
